You usually see most teens bring snacks to school, but do you ever wonder why they bring snacks or how those snacks are helping them? What is the connection between, focus and snacks? Snacks can be junk food, like chips, candy, or even soda. Snacks can also be healthy, like apples, grapes or celery.

Even so, the question still remains of how have they been helping us throughout our days in school. The benefits of bringing snacks to school is a huge interest point for scientists, as they want to promote good nutrition. According to the website, “healthy eating”, snacks are especially crucial for children, because they are still growing.

I’ve asked students at here, what they think about bringing snacks to school, here were their answers. LJ, a freshman here, stated that he does not bring snacks to school but only because we have a school store. When he does get a snack, it holds him over until lunch.

Leslie Guzman, a senior, stated that she does not bring snacks to school but she wishes she did and that she also thinks everyone should bring snacks to school. She also stated that it helps with concentrating, staying awake, and not being hungry.

Did you know that being hungry can distract your focus? I even asked Ms.Strange, the World History teacher. “I bring many snacks to school. I work through my planning periods and instead of meals I snack throughout the day. I need to remember to eat to keep my calorie count up. I bring about 2-3 snacks a day, although I hoard food in my desk drawers. I think people should bring snacks, especially if they stay after school because hunger is distracting.”Strange said.

Whether it’s healthy snacks or junk food, snacks still help you throughout the day. It will help you focus and get you through the day and not be distracted and moody when not having a snack. Try and get or buy some snacks!
